Biomes
32 works
Biomes begins with topographies. They are partial images of places that seem to rise out of an underlying order I am trying to reach, but never fully hold in place. The works begin inside a closed system of coordinates, rules, and relations. They become something else when they leave that structure and enter the physical world through print, paint, and material. What appears is never a complete translation. Something slips, and something is lost, but that is also where the work begins to live as an object in its own right. I think of these pieces less as inventions than as brief attempts to make something latent visible. Each work holds a temporary form of something larger, something that can only exist in the world by taking on matter, imperfection, and change.
