Album of Seasonal Landscapes

Xiao Yuncong created the ‘Album of Seasonal Landscapes’ in 1668. The work consists of eight leaves, each depicting a different season. He used ink and light color on paper. Qing dynasty, China.

The album is part of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection. It exemplifies the intricacy of Xiao Yuncong’s landscape painting technique, featuring his distinctive dry and twisting brushstrokes.

Xiao Yuncong was active during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He was also a calligrapher and poet, known for his loyalty to the Ming dynasty.
