Mount Hua

Tang Yin’s “Mount Hua” is a hanging scroll from 1506. Ink and light color on paper depict the mountainous landscape. The work is part of the Ming dynasty’s artistic tradition.

The scroll measures 176.5 cm by 51 cm. The ink is applied in delicate strokes, capturing the majesty of the mountain. Light color highlights the natural forms.

This work is held by the Cleveland Museum of Art. It is a significant example of Tang Yin’s landscape paintings during the Ming dynasty.

Tang Yin was a painter, calligrapher, and poet. He lived during the Ming dynasty and was one of the “Four Masters of Ming dynasty”.
