Portrait of Jean Terford David

Thomas Sully painted the Portrait of Jean Terford David in 1813. The subject was a member of a prominent Philadelphia family. The work is oil on canvas.

The portrait measures 75.6 by 63.5 cm. It remains in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art, where it has been housed since acquisition.

Thomas Sully moved from England to the United States in 1801. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1809 and spent much of his career in Philadelphia.
