Portrait of Mrs. George Collier

Joshua Reynolds painted the Portrait of Mrs. George Collier in the 18th century. The painting is now housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Reynolds was a founder and the first president of the Royal Academy of Arts. He was knighted by King George III in 1769.

Reynolds promoted the ‘Grand Style’ in painting, which involved idealization over realism. He completed over 2,000 paintings during his lifetime.
