Charles Maurice de Talleyrand Périgord (1754–1838), Prince de Talleyrand

In 1817, Pierre Paul Prud’hon painted Charles Maurice de Talleyrand Périgord. The medium is oil on canvas. The painting measures 85 x 55 7/8 inches. It is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The painting was acquired by the museum in 1994. It was a gift in memory of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The purchase was made with funds from Mrs. Charles Wrightsman.

Prud’hon was known for his allegorical paintings and portraits. He often collaborated with Constance Mayer on his works. He painted a portrait of Empress Josephine, Napoleon’s wife.
