The Adoration of the Magi

Geertgen tot Sint Jans painted ‘The Adoration of the Magi’ in the 1480s. It’s oil on wood. The scene shows the three Magi presenting gifts to the infant Jesus. Cleveland, Ohio.

The painting measures 28.5 by 24.5 inches. It resides in the Cleveland Museum of Art. A typical example of 15th-century Netherlandish painting.

Geertgen tot Sint Jans is believed to have been a pupil of Albert van Ouwater. He was associated with the Knights of Saint John in Haarlem, although he never joined the order.
