Abraham Welcoming the Three Angels

Francesco Guardi painted “Abraham Welcoming the Three Angels” in the 1750s. The work is oil on canvas. It depicts a biblical scene with Abraham greeting three angelic visitors.

The painting is part of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection. Guardi’s use of light and shadow highlights the central figures amid a darkened background.

Guardi collaborated with his brother Gian Antonio on religious paintings early in his career. After 1760, he focused on cityscapes, known as vedute.
