John the Baptist being carried to Zacharias by Francesco Granacci. Painted c. 1510 using tempera and oil with gold on wood. Currently housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The painting blends tempera and oil, a technique that combines the quick drying of tempera with the rich hues of oil paint. Gold is used for decorative emphasis.

Francesco Granacci was a contemporary of Michelangelo and trained at the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio. His work shows influences from Ghirlandaio and Filippino Lippi.
