The marble relief depicts Saint Bridget of Sweden receiving the rule of her order. It was acquired by the museum in 1914 through the John Stewart Kennedy Fund.

Agostino di Duccio was accused of theft in 1441 and briefly banished from Florence. He worked in Prato and Perugia, producing sculptural decorations for churches.
