Water Village

Wen Boren’s ‘Water Village’ is a handscroll from 1570. Ink and light color on paper capture a serene water landscape. The work reflects Ming dynasty aesthetics.

The handscroll measures 30.2 cm in height and extends across its length, typical of Chinese landscape paintings of the period.

Wen Boren was part of the Wu School, a group of painters from the Suzhou region. This school was known for its literati painting style.
