Joan of Arc

Jules Bastien-Lepage painted ‘Joan of Arc’ in 1879. It measures 100 by 110 inches. The canvas depicts Joan in her garden, listening to the voices of saints. New York.

The painting was a gift from Erwin Davis to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1889. It remains a part of their European Paintings collection.

Bastien-Lepage was born in Damvillers in 1848 and died in Paris in 1884. He was associated with the beginning of Naturalism.
